About Bracknell Gymnastics Club

Aims:

Bracknell Gymnastics Club believes in sport for all and putting people first. Therefore, we provide gymnastics for males and females of all ages, regardless of their shape, size or experience. Our aim is to help as many people as possible to experience fun, improve self esteem and build good character through gymnastics.

TeamGym:

The club focus is upon the discipline of TeamGym and its associated pieces, being floor, tumble, trampette and trampette vault. A number of Bracknell Leisure Centre coaches represented Great Britain for Team Gym in 2006. This generated the experience and inspiration to start a club to bring this exciting and all inclusive discipline of gymnastics to the community. Due to the nature of the TeamGym, trampettes and tumble tracks provide far less impact on growing and even aging joints than springboards and harder floors (as found in other gymnastic disciplines). In addition, training demands are far more realistic, fitting more comfortably into a normal, well rounded lifestyle and facilitating a gymnastics career for as long as you wish to participate.

Bracknell Gymnastics Club & Bracknell Leisure Centre:

The club is fortunate to have a very close and supportive relationship with Bracknell Leisure Centre. The centre was instrumental in forming the club and continues to co-operate with and facilitate club events as well as day to day activity.

As far as training is concerned, there are few differences between club and centre gymnastics sessions. The centre sessions are the recreational base from which all of the club squads were formed and continues to act as the feeder system for the next generation of squad gymnasts. The centre and club operate the recreational and competitive dimensions of gymnastics development in seamless unity. Staff are the same for both centre recreational classes and club squads and all training fees and payment of coaches is conducted by the centre.

With the centre collecting all training fees, the club does not receive regular income beyond our modest club fees. Therefore, the club exists purely for the aims stated and not as a profit making body. New equipment is afforded due to the hard work of our volunteers through various fund raising activities and grant applications.

The club and all its members affiliate to British Gymnastics for the purposes of competition.
